SASKATOON – A New Brunswick man has been fined a total of $12,000 after he was found guilty of outfitting without a license near Pierceland, Saskatchewan in 2011.

Last week, Michel Lanteigne was fined $10,000 under The Saskatchewan Outfitter and Guide Regulations.

He was also convicted in Meadow Lake provincial court of unlawfully advertising his availability as a hunting outfitter and fined an additional $2,000.

Saskatchewan conservation officers began investigating a complaint about Lanteigne in 2011. Evidence was collected for two years with the aid of officers in New Brunswick.

“Unlawful outfitting takes away from legitimate outfitters and hunters, while hindering our ability to manage Saskatchewan’s white-tailed deer, moose and bear populations,” said Ken Aube, Saskatchewan’s ministry of environment compliance and enforcement director.
