Mother charged with killing son back in Saskatoon court

SASKATOON – A mother accused of killing her son in the first murder of 2014 has made another court appearance in Saskatoon.

Kellie Johnson, 35, was charged with first-degree murder after her son, five-year-old Jonathon Vetter, was found dead in an Avenue R South home on Jan. 4.

Johnson was ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment at the Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford.

She has a history of mental illness and was the subject of a missing person case in January 2013.

Johnson made a brief court appearance on Thursday where she was remanded in custody.

She is due back in court next month.
