Police hope car caught on video will shed light on hit-and-run

LETHBRIDGE- Surveillance footage has captured images of a red car near the scene of a terrible hit-and-run, prompting police to appeal for information about the vehicle.

Around 3 a.m. on Jan. 26, a father of four was hit by a vehicle on the Stafford Dr. overpass while cycling home from work. He is still recovering from critical injuries in a Calgary hospital.

Edward James Mikla has since turned himself in to police, and has been charged with one count of failing to remain at the scene of a crash. Further charges could be laid.

Police are now asking for whoever was in the red car spotted near the scene to come forward, as they may have more information about the crash.
