HALIFAX – Police are investigating a sexual assault and attempted robbery that occurred in South End Halifax.
At 9:45 p.m. Thursday, a 23-year-old woman was walking down South Street, when she felt she was being followed. As she crossed Edward Street, a man began pulling her hair and jacket hood.
He asked for her wallet and when she did not comply, he headbutted her. The wallet dropped to the ground, but without explanation, the man ran away without it.

After her attacker left, the woman ran towards Dalhousie University campus and called a taxi to take her home.
During the encounter, the man also touched the woman’s breasts and made sexual comments. Police said the woman was not injured.
The suspect is described as a white man, aged 45 to 50. He has a stocky build; standing 5-8 or 5-9 and weighing 220 lbs. At the time of the assault, the man was wearing dark clothing and a baseball hat. He spoke with slightly slurred speech.
