The incident took place shortly after midnight, at 12:33 am, Toronto police said in a social media post.

Three children aged 15, 13 and six were killed. Three other passengers, a 40-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child, were taken to the hospital.

Toronto Police said the children’s mother was injured in the crash, while the injured male is an acquaintance of the family.

The victims were stopped on the eastbound off-ramp at Highway 401 and Renforth Drive in the city’s west end when they were hit. The stationary car had six people in it.

Police said 19-year-old Ethan Lehouillier was driving a Dodge Caravan when it hit a stopped Chrysler Pacifica at the intersection of Renforth Drive and the exit ramp from Highway 401.

Two children died at the scene while a third was rushed to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
