Elderly man rushed to hospital in critical condition after Bow Trail crash

A series of crashes in and around Calgary has left three people dead and several injured, including an elderly man involved in a crash on Bow Trail on Wednesday afternoon.

The vehicle he was in went out of control and slammed into a light standard.

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A woman in the vehicle suffered serious injuries.

Calgary police say between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. there 10 injury collisions in the city and almost 100 minor crashes.

Outside the city, three people died in highway crashes Wednesday, although in one case, paramedics believe the man suffered a medical condition.

A 35-year-old man died in hospital after a crash on the QEII north of Airdrie and a woman was killed on the Trans-Canada Highway near Chestermere.
