Home clinic client suspected of running over elderly lady in Coquitlam

Coquitlam RCMP confirm the vehicle in Thursday’s  fatal hit and run has been recovered and they have spoken to a person of interest, however no arrests have been made.

A woman in her 80s was hit by a vehicle just before 2 p.m. in driveway of her home. The family ran a home-based  Chinese Medical Clinic on Austin Avenue and Schoolhouse Street, according to Mounties.

Reagan Chu, the victim’s son, was inside the clinic when his mother was hit. Chu says the car was a small, grey, likely four door model.  It’s believed that a client may have backed over the woman.

The victim was taken to hospital where she tragically died of her injuries.

“They backed up normally and just drove out of the parking like nothing happened,” said Trevor Stewart, who witnessed the incident and performed CPR on the woman.

The victim’s son, however, can’t believe the driver didn’t see his mother.  He describes her as a small woman who would often pray in and around the family home.
