TORONTO – Olivia Chow is “strongly considering” challenging Rob Ford in the upcoming mayoral election though has yet to make a final decision.
“I love the city of Toronto. It’s my home,” she said at a press conference in Ottawa Thursday. I’m seriously considering running for mayor, I have not made a decision and once I’ve made a decision I’ll let you know.”
Chow says she has some “eager” friends that are meeting and talking about her possibly running for the mayor’s office.

“What I’m doing right now is calling out Stephen Harper to help Torontonians out,” she said at a press conference demanding the federal government pitch in for Toronto’s ice storm clean up.
Fellow Toronto NDP MP Andrew Cash gave her a soft endorsement Thursday, saying she would be great at “just about anything.”
“Olivia would be great doing just about anything she set her mind to, including being a minister in a Tom Mulcair government,” he said.
It has long been rumoured that Chow would seek the mayor’s office and she has repeatedly brushed off the question in the past.
If she were to challenge the mayor, she would join a few other notable contenders including former councillor David Soknacki and current councillor Karen Stintz
Ford registered for re-election on the first possible day to do so and described himself as “the best mayor that the city has ever had.”
Former Progressive Conservative MPP and radio host John Tory is also rumoured to be considering a run at the mayor’s office.
