MONTREAL – Three people have been arrested during police raids on an organized crime network that targeted drivers using parking meters in Montreal.
The sting began early Wednesday morning and took place in the Greater Montreal area.
In addition to the three arrests, police also seized and searched three vehicles.

There may be hundreds of fraud victims and investigations are still ongoing, a police spokesperson confirmed.
The fraud ring operated by putting devices on parking meters, which would then capture data from the debit or credit card used to pay for parking.

The police operation began after authorities received a tip from the public in the fall of 2013.
Authorities are reminding citizens to regularly check their bank statements for unusual activity.
When parking, drivers are advised to carefully check the meter for any suspicious devices.
