REGINA – An Alaskan man has spent the last few days in jail and will have to cough up a big fine after he was caught trying to smuggle firearms across the border at North Portal.
On January 10th, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) conducted a search on 55-year-old Jeffery Leo Webster’s vehicle. Border officers seized two handguns, three long guns and two replica handguns.
Webster plead guilty to smuggling in a Regina courtroom on Monday and was sentenced to four days in prison (time served) plus a $6,000 fine.
This is the second significant seizure in recent weeks for CBSA officers.
