NAKUSP, B.C. – The RCMP are investigating what they’re calling a gay-bashing in which the victim was brutally beaten in southeast B.C.
The attack happened on Dec. 29 when two gay men who’d been cross country skiing stopped to take a dip in St. Leon’s Hot Springs 25 kilometres north of Nakusp.
Police say two other men and a woman arrived and when they found out the couple was gay one of the newcomers, a Calgarian identified as Terry, told his friends he was going to kill the couple.
One of the gay men managed to run away, but the other suffered a vicious beating that left him with cuts and bruising to most of his body and a big cut over his nose.
The RCMP say they believe homophobia was the motive of the attack.
They’re asking for the public’s help in tracking down the man named Terry, saying he’s believed to be from Calgary and may have been visiting the area of Nakusp or Revelstoke.
