David Cassidy busted on suspicion of driving under the influence

TORONTO — David Cassidy, the former teen idol who starred on The Partridge Family, was arrested Friday on suspicion of driving while under the influence.

It is the third time Cassidy has been charged with DUI.

The 63-year-old star’s Chevrolet Impala was stopped by the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles for making a right turn on a red light. The officer administered a blood-alcohol test and Cassidy allegedly blew .19 per cent — twice the legal limit.

Cassidy was arrested and booked into a Los Angeles jail overnight. He was released Saturday on $15,000 bond.

According to the police report, Cassidy was alone in the vehicle.

The singer and actor was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Schodack, New York last August. In 2011 he was sentenced to a year’s probation and a six-month suspension of his driver’s license after pleaded no contest to a DUI charge in Florida.

Cassidy, best known for his hit “I Think I Love You,” continues to perform live concerts. His daughter Katie stars in the made-in-Vancouver series Arrow.
