Watch the video above: The Huskies women’s hockey team looks to get back on track with a four-game home stand
SASKATOON – The Huskies women’s hockey team is looking to rebound from a slow start to 2014
The Huskies were on fire heading into the holiday break. Saskatchewan had won four games in a row and sat alone in second place in the Canada West standings with a record of 11-3-2. But the dogs hit a bit of a snag in the first week back from the break, losing both games on the road against the Manitoba Bisons last weekend.

“I felt that we lost a lot of battles in Manitoba and I think that cost us the series.” said Huskies Head Coach Steve Kook on Wednesday.
The Huskies are now feeling the heat after earning just a single point last weekend. Saskatchewan is tied for 2nd in the conference, with the 4th place Bisons just one point back.
The next two weeks are going to be crucial for the Huskies. The dogs will start a four game home stand on Friday when they play host to the Alberta Pandas, the team Saskatchewan is tied with in the standings. If the Huskies want to host a playoff series this season, picking up four points this weekend would be a good place to start.
“We’re going to see the pretty much the same sort of opponent(as the Bisons). A quick team that works real hard.” said Kook.
The Huskies will kick off their home stand at Rutherford Rink at 7 P.M. Friday night, against the Alberta Pandas.
