A busy road in west Edmonton was closed late Friday morning after a collision involving a transport truck and a motorcycle.
The crash happened on Winterburn Road/215 Street at the intersection of 115th Avenue.
Alberta Health Services and and the Edmonton Police Service said EMS responded at 9:29 a.m. to the crash and transported a 35-year-old man in serious and unstable but non-life-threatening condition to hospital. He was on the motorcycle.
The Edmonton Police Service sent a traffic advisory just after 11 a.m., saying Winterburn Road was closed heading south off Yellowhead Trail until 112 Avenue while officers investigate the serious injury collision. An update around 3 p.m. said police were in the process of reopening the road.
The major collision investigation unit bus was at the scene, where a heavily damaged black motorcycle was seen in the middle of the intersection.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing but speed is believed to be a contributing factor.
There was a second collision involving a motorcycle on Friday morning in another part of the city.
AHS said that crash, just before 7 a.m., happened near 140 Street and 137 Avenue. EMS transported an adult patient in stable, non-life-threatening condition to hospital.
