Winnipeg homes evacuated when North End fire spreads

WINNIPEG – An overnight fire on Pritchard Avenue in the North End spread to a neighbouring home and prompted evacuations.

The fire started at about 1:30 a.m. on Pritchard between Parr and McKenzie streets and spread to the house next door.

Homes in the immediate area were evacuated.

The fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage — $135,000 to the home that first caught fire and $165,000 to the house next door.

One man was sent to hospital in stable condition as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
