TTC fare hike comes into effect New Year’s Day

TORONTO – Toronto Transit Commission riders will be paying more for fares beginning New Year’s Day.

Single adult tokens are up five cents to $2.70 and monthly Metropasses are now $133.75, a $5.25 increase from last year.

Cash fares remain at $3.00.

The TTC says around 70 per cent of its revenue comes from the farebox.

Factoring in these increases, the TTC currently stands 6 million dollars short of reaching their budget.
