SASKATOON – A vehicle went over a guardrail on the Circle Drive North Bridge and into the South Saskatchewan River on Monday.

Around 1 p.m., the eastbound vehicle reportedly lost control, left the bridge and ended up in the river.

The lone occupant was forced to make her way to the roof and then to the river ice as the vehicle sank behind her.

The 23-year-old woman was taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

“The decision has been made to leave the car in the river at this point, we’ve notified water control, water shed authority,” said Luke Durand, Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services assistant chief.
