Police closed a portion of a busy central Edmonton roadway Friday after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision.
The collision occurred in the area of Jasper Avenue and 122nd Street at around 10:45 a.m.
Police said a 25-year-old man was crossing Jasper Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2016 Mazda CX5 that was heading west on Jasper Avenue.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mazda was not injured, police said.
Jasper Avenue was closed between 121st and 123rd streets for several hours Friday. The area reopened to traffic before 3 p.m.
The Edmonton Police Service’s major collisions investigation unit is investigating.
