Former Parti Québécois cabinet minister Joseph Facal will not join the centre-right movement being built by another former PQ minister, François Legault.
Facal made the announcement in his weekly column in the Journal de Montréal on Monday.
“We share several points of view, but we do not have the same reading of what needs to be done at the moment,” Facal wrote.
Facal had hinted he would not be joining Legault’s movement a few weeks ago in a speech.
It is unclear now what Legault will do without the high-profile Facal. A number of federalists also have recently bowed out of the plan.
