Dangerous driving with winter conditions

HALIFAX – Dropping temperatures and the first heavy snowfall of the season proved dangerous for drivers in Nova Scotia on Saturday.

Police in Cape Breton reported 17 car accidents in the span of a couple of hours.

They say the snow built up quickly and roads became very slippery.

There were no serious injuries.

Elsewhere in Nova Scotia, police were called to a head-on collision on Highway 103 near Tantallon.

A truck collided with a car carrying four people on the icy highway.

The driver of the car had to be extracted from the vehicle by fire crews.

Three people were taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
