ABOVE: Listen to “Ride Like the Wind” by Robin Thicke and Ron Burgundy.
TORONTO — The seductively smooth vocals of Robin Thicke, the cocky banter of Ron Burgundy and a wicked flute solo — it’s the perfect recipe for a hit song.
Thicke and Burgundy (aka Will Ferrell) have recorded a cover version of the 1980 Christopher Cross hit “Ride Like the Wind” for the soundtrack of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
The track was posted online Monday, ahead of the film’s Dec. 18 release.
“That’s right, folks. When Ron Burgundy rides, he rides like the wind,” Burgundy says while Thicke sings. “Not like a Subaru or a golf cart, like the God darn wind — powerful and sleek and invisible. Feel that draft up your skirt, ladies? That’s me. Okay, that was creepy, I’m sorry.”

When Thicke sings “I was born the son of a lawless man,” Burgundy wonders: “You mean Alan Thicke?”
And the aforementioned flute break? Burgundy describes it as “three feet of polished nickel, valves and my sweet breath.”
Burgundy even sings along in a few spots. “Why is he singing lead? I’m much better,” Burgundy asks. “Is Robin sharp or am I? I think it’s him, right?”
