MIRAMICHI, N.B. – A New Brunswick man accused of killing his 16-year-old cousin has been given more time to decide on his legal representation.

Curtis Bonnell, 30, is charged with first-degree murder in the September 2009 death of Hilary Bonnell.

On Friday, a judge gave the accused a deadline of Nov. 23 to come to a decision on his defence lawyer.

The disappearance and death of Hilary Bonnell gripped residents of the Esgenoopetitj First Nation, also known as Burnt Church.

She went missing Sept. 5, 2009, after attending a house party the night before on the reserve of 1,100.

Her remains were found last November buried in a remote wooded area.
