One person is dead and another was injured following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 115 south of Peterborough, Ont., on Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 8:50 a.m. where they located a pickup truck in the centre median between the highway’s northbound and southbound lanes.

Peterborough County OPP determined the truck had been travelling northbound on the highway when it collided with a commercial motor vehicle before striking a guard-rail.

Police say the truck’s passenger side door was ripped off in the collision and one occupant was thrown from the vehicle.

OPP say a 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Another occupant was transported to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre with undisclosed injuries, OPP said.

The highway was closed between Hwy. 7A and County Road 10 in Cavan-Monaghan Township as OPP investigated. The section of highway reopened just before 4 p.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has video/dash camera footage and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
