The Great Plains facility near Quarry Park will house two arenas, a fitness room and full service restaurant. The 85,000 square foot centre is also scheduled to open in 2015.
“This is a significant milestone worth celebrating by the city, our partners and most importantly, the citizens and recreational groups that are in great need of these facilities,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “The Great Plains and Quarry Park recreation facilities will add a new vibrancy to their communities, providing an accessible space for everyone to enjoy.”
The city funded the $63 million Quarry Park project, and got some money from the province for the Great Plains facility.
