Curfew removed for man accused in Anthony Smith’s death

TORONTO – The Crown has agreed to remove a curfew imposed on a man accused in the death of Anthony Smith, who gained notoriety after a photo surfaced that shows him with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

Defence lawyers had requested the change in bail conditions for Hanad Mohamed, 23, who is charged with accessory after the fact to manslaughter, accessory to committing aggravated assault and accessory to discharging a firearm.

The conditions were previously modified to allow Mohamed to leave Ontario while he awaits trial and lawyers told a Toronto court Thursday he is currently out of the province.

His case is due back before the court Jan. 9.

Mohamed is accused in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Smith outside a Toronto nightclub in March.

A photo emerged in May, after Smith’s death, that showed Ford with his arm around him.
