MONTREAL – A day after Reza Mohammad Tehrani-Cohen was abducted, police say the Montreal businessman has been found.
Tehrani-Cohen, 53, was released at 5 p.m. Tuesday on the North Shore of Montreal. Tuesday evening he was meeting with the major crime division of the police force.
The abduction took place near the main entrance of the Aviron Technical Institute, which Tehrani-Cohen owns.
Police spokesperson Yannick Paradis said Tehrani-Cohen was in good health and thanked the public for all their help in the case.
A witness told police that two or three suspects in a Jeep Liberty approached Tehrani-Cohen as he was walking to his car Monday.
There was a verbal exchange and then the suspects made him get in to the Jeep. But there were no visible weapons and no aggressive moves by either the suspects or the victim, Montreal police said.
The suspects "put Tehrani-Cohen into the truck," a beige Jeep Liberty with the licence plate FGM1044. Police said the Jeep had been reported stolen.
Police said Tuesday morning there had not been a ransom demand and Tehrani-Cohen’s family was not aware of any threats against him.
The Aviron Technical Institute was established in 1937. The trade school offers programs in construction and electricity, industrial drafting, welding and fitting, electronics and audio repair, auto mechanics, security officer training, general welding and high pressure welding.
