It’s the first annual Canadian GivingTuesday – coming on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday – and the Canadian Cancer Society is hoping Albertans join in and make a donation to help fight the devastating disease.
“Cancer will unfortunately rob too many people of the merriment that the holiday season has to offer,” says Dan Holinda, Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta/NWT Division.

“But you can make a difference in the life of someone living with cancer by donating to the Society on GivingTuesday. Every dollar donated will help us continue our efforts to prevent cancer, increase survival rates and provide support to cancer patients, their caregivers and families.”
The Alberta/NWT Division has a goal of raising $7,500 on December 3, 2013. That would cover, for example, approximately 300 free rides for patients to and from treatment.
Anyone interested in making a donation can text GTLIFE to 20222 or contribute online at http://www.cancer.ca/grateful.
GivingTuesday was created by charities in the US in 2012.
