Guelph police say man tried to sell BB gun used in shooting

An apparent dispute resulted in one man being shot with a BB gun, and another facing charges of assault, and possessing weapons and drugs.

The Guelph Police Service and Guelph Wellington Paramedics were called to an area of York Road and Cityview Drive South on Friday morning.

Investigators say a man was sitting outside around 5:30 a.m. when another man approached him and fired a BB gun towards him. The pellet struck the victim above the left eyebrow.

The victim was injured as a result but the extent of his injuries is not known.

They say both men are known to each other.

Investigators say officers were able to locate the suspect outside a downtown business. They say he attempted to sell the BB gun that was used in the shooting to the business but was unsuccessful.

The man was arrested and a search turned up a butterfly knife and suspected cocaine and methamphetamine.

The man, 50, of Guelph, was held for a bail hearing.
