Calgary man charged with child luring

CALGARY – Police have charged a 21-year-old Calgary man with child luring after he allegedly tried to arrange a rendezvous with what he thought was a 12-year-old girl.

Police and the Southern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) team launched an investigation after a 12-year-old girl complained she was receiving unsolicited sexually explicit text messages.

ICE investigators later found one of the girl’s friends had also been receiving similar text messages.

Police began a conversation with the accused in which they pretended to be the victim, and arranged a meeting with the man under the pretense of a sexual tryst.

Officials have charged 21-year-old Justin Robert Watson with six counts of luring, three counts of invitation to sexual touching, two counts of attempting to obtain sex from person under 18, and one charge of making explicit material available to a child.

He was arrested on November 27th, 2013.
