Acropalooza

CIAC (Calgary International Acro Cup) is Canada’s largest international acrobatic gymnastics competition! Athletes attending include members of 2018 Team Canada, the current reigning World Champion mixed pair and the reigning European Champion women’s pair in their respective age groups.

Acro Palooza is the concurrent event for beginner competitive levels and recreational acrobatic gymnastics; both are presented by Calgary Acro on May 24-26, 2019 at the Genesis Centre in NE Calgary. The event features 3 full days of competition; attending clubs represent Alberta, BC, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Great Britain, USA and Mexico.

This event serves to promote acrobatic gymnastics within Calgary, Alberta, and Canada. By hosting international clubs, our local members get exposure to world class competition while remaining on home ground. The event also raises the international awareness of our Canadian acro athletes.

Acrobatic gymnastics officially joined the FIG in 1999, a relatively new recognized discipline. What separates acro gymnastics apart from other, more familiar gymnastics events, is that the athletes perform in pairs, (women’s) trios or (men’s) quads on the floor without additional apparatus. The acrobatic elements performed include holds, throws, catches and synchronized floor or tumbling runs.
Acro gymnastics is growing in Canada and Calgary Acro is at the forefront of the movement. We have athletes of all ages and skill levels, from beginners up to and including members of Team Canada. In fact, one of our trios finished 4th at the World Age Group Competition in 2018!

Calgary Acro caters to both boys and girls and has a well-known reputation internationally for high quality competitors. Our athletes are mature, respectable ambassadors of the sport and of Canada. We have the highest quality staff coaches in all of Canada and are a small, locally owned and operated club.
