Polyland – Canadian Premiere

[Le français suit] Join Cinema Politica Concordia for the Canadian premiere of Polyland, a gripping film following three women from minority groups in Poland, as they critically explore what it’s like to be Black, Muslim or LGBTQ+ in the increasingly hostile environment of Europe. The screening will be followed by a Skype Q&A with director Dasa Raimanova and one of the film’s main protagonists. Admission is by donation ($5-10 suggested). The venue is wheelchair accessible. Ania, Miriam and Elmelda seek to be seen, not as “the other”, but as a part of Polish society. Their wish for belonging reflects many other stories across the world and seems more and more difficult to achieve in the current upsurge of right-wing governments across Europe. Ania, Miriam et Elmelda cherchent à être vues, non pas en tant que “l’autre”, mais comme partie intégrante de la société polonaise.
