An exhibition of new paintings from Marianne Watchel opens at Scott Gallery, April 14. For those familiar with the artist’s approach to abstraction, these paintings present an intriguing shift. From the viewer’s perspective, the shift or trajectory is simultaneously limiting and expansive: sealed surfaces take deeper breaths and tone establishes the ground for the paintings and is a conceptual key into the paintings.
