LATIN EXPRESSIONS 2026 | A Celebration of Latin American Heritage Month

American Heritage Month. Through music, dance, literature, film, visual arts, and community gatherings, the festival brings Latin American artists, stories, and perspectives into conversation with audiences across Metro Vancouver. This year’s program travels across the region through collaborations with some of Vancouver’s leading cultural institutions. Highlights include an evening with Mexican-Canadian writers at the Vancouver Public Library; a guided experience of Tupananchiskama: Ancient Andean Cosmovision at the Museum of Anthropology; I Like It Like That!, a night of vinyl, dance, and live Latin grooves at Performance Works; and the inaugural YUPI! Latin American Arts Family Festival at Presentation House Theatre, a special Latin American Reading Group with acclaimed Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli, and a guided exhibition tour with Mexican-Canadian artist Gina Ortiz at Alliance Française Vancouver. Latin Expressions 2026 invites audiences from all backgrounds to encounter the breadth of Latin American artistic practice, learn from different histories and lived experiences, and connect through shared cultural experiences. The festival encourages intercultural understanding and a stronger sense of belonging within our diverse communities by creating welcoming opportunities for participation and exchange. Join us throughout October and be part of the conversation.
