THE PD DAY CAMP PROGRAM IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!
ATTENTION ALL AVIATION ENTHUSIASTS
During Edmonton Public (and Catholic) School Board PD Days. The Alberta Aviation Museum has a special themed surprise, for ages 6-11 years old!
During each camp date, campers will delve into Edmonton’s captivating aviation history with extraordinary opportunities to explore the museum, sit in the cockpit of one of our meticulously preserved aircraft, and unleash their imaginative side by designing and testing various flying objects.
UPCOMING CAMP DATES:
History Explorers : January 31st, 2024
Campers will travel back in time to help uncover some of the greatest stories from the history of aviation in Alberta. Help Katharine Stinson and deliver the first airmail in Western Canada. Join Wop May in the hunt for the Mad Trapper and on the famous Mercy Flight of 1929. Travel back in time while dressing up in historic uniforms and taking a seat in the pilot’s seat of one of the museum’s aircraft.
Training School : February 29th & March 1st, 2024
Inspired by the training school housed by the Alberta Aviation Museum’s hangar in the 1940s, campers will learn about different jobs in aviation from military crews to commercial aviation and the skills those crew members need to keep flights running smoothly.
Flight Academy : March 25th – 28th, 2024
Our 4-day Flight Academy mixes favourite activities from our Training School, STEM Lab, and Crash Scene Investigation day camps with new activities to make history take flight! Campers will learn history through interactive scavenger hunts, practice their flight skills on our flight simulators, design gliders, parachutes and much more!
Science of Flight : April 26th, 2024
For campers seeking a deeper understanding of the science behind aviation and piloting. Explore the intricacies of flight theories through engaging scavenger hunts, hone and evaluate your aviation skills using our state-of-the-art flight simulators, and unravel the principles of flight through hands-on experimentation in our paper airplane test lab.
