Sarah Crosbie
Radio Host
Sarah Crosbie started telling stories thanks to a Commodore Vic 20 computer and, later, a cantaloupe.
In the 1980s, her parents bought her the machine and enrolled her in a children’s programming class but, instead, it became her tool to write childhood stories in her bedroom late at night.
Years later, when she walked into the student newspaper office at Queen’s University to apply for a writer’s job, she saw a pile of resumes, as thick as a textbook.
She didn’t apply. It would get lost in the stack.
Instead, she bought a melon, sliced it in half, hollowed it out, jammed her resume inside, tied it together with a red bow and dropped it off at the newspaper office. Two years later, she was editor-in-chief of the paper.
Sarah was a reporter, editor and columnist at the Kingston Whig-Standard daily newspaper where she was nominated for the country’s top journalism prize, a National Newspaper Award. After her writing career, she spent 15 years as a morning music show radio host, including seven years at Q107 Calgary – which means she’s back on 770 AM.
Sarah is married with a teenage son, whose baseball takes her to every corner of Alberta. She’s also a “step-Sarah” to two adult children. She’s passionate about supporting charities that help women and children, local businesses, and restaurants. She loves Mexican food – and had guacamole for dinner on her wedding night in Las Vegas.
She is the recipient of an Ontario Association of Broadcasters Community Service Award for helping to save a man’s life.
