Video: Deadly crane collapse in Brazil caught on camera

Dramatic footage emerged of the moment a giant crane collapsed at a World Cup Stadium in Sao Paulo. The incident, which happened at the Corinthians Arena on Wednesday, killed two workers.

The amateur footage shows the crane falling onto part of the stadium structure and people running from the scene.

A theory that the rain-soaked ground might have ceded under the weight of the equipment is one of three main lines of investigation, said Brazilian media reports. Human error and a problem with the crane are the other hypotheses.

The stadium was initially scheduled to be part of the Confederations Cup earlier this year, but world football’s governing body FIFA scrapped the venue from the warm-up tournament because of financing problems before construction even started.
