Astronauts move Soyuz capsule around space station

TORONTO – Three astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) took their capsule for a spin on Friday.

Astronauts Fyodor Yurchikhin, Karen Nybert and Luca Parmitano undocked their Soyuz TMA-09M craft from the Rassvet module on the Earth-facing side of the station and moved it to the aft end of the Zvezda module.

The module was freed up after the European Space Agency’s fourth Automated Transfer vehicle departed on Monday.

The move of their Soyuz spacecraft made way for the arrival of another three-person crew set to arrive on Nov. 7, which will be the first time since 2009 that the ISS has had nine crew members.
