VIDEO: Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli said on Oct. 10, 2013 that Ontario has enough power, reverses course on building new nuclear plants.
TORONTO – Bruce Power held a fundraiser for the Liberal party shortly before the Ontario premier announced she was shelving the plan to build new nuclear reactors in the province, according to a report by the Toronto Star.
The report says the privately owned Bruce Power held a $100,000 fundraiser on September 10th at the Four Seasons hotel in Yorkville which both the premier and energy minister attended.
A month later, the government decided not to proceed with the $15 billion construction of two new nuclear reactors operated by Ontario Power generation, a rival of Bruce Power.
