WINNIPEG – Members of the University of Manitoba Faculty Association have voted in favour of a strike.
Among the approximately 1,230 members of the faculty association, 820 voted, and 68 per cent of those were in favour of authorizing strike action, a news release from the association said.
“UMFA continues to hope for a negotiated settlement, but to achieve that, the employer must now begin to bargain seriously on the outstanding issues,” association president Sharon Alward said in the news release.
No strike date has been set.
The faculty association and the university administration have reached an impasse in negotiations, the news release says.
