The holidays are time for making memories with family and friends, and sometimes with the world.

From heart-warming to notorious, here’s a look back at some of the most famous American Thanksgiving moments.

Sarah Palin’s turkey pardon:
It was a turkey day tradition that went horribly wrong. Sarah Palin visited a Wasilla turkey farm to engage in the American tradition of pardoning a turkey from its grim fate on Thanksgiving. After pardoning the turkey, Palin did an interview while the camera captured the gruesome fate of some of the unpardoned fowl.

Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving:
It may not be as famous as Charlie Brown’s Christmas, but the thanksgiving feast the morose boy shares with his friends is considered a heart-warming holiday classic by many.

Friends:
It’s a familiar scene. The family is gathered around the table, dinner is served and secrets start spilling out. In a famous episode, the cast of Friends showed just how messy family functions can be when Ross and Monica start tattling on each other for past indiscretions to their parents.

WKRP in Cincinnati:
If only turkeys could fly. In this famous television episode, the fictional station manager of WKRP arranges to have live turkeys dropped from a helicopter. Too bad the birds can’t fly.

Angry birds:
A television reporter struggles to do a standup while hundreds of turkeys peck around her leg. She eventually loses it and has to be carried out by a producer.
