Three horses have been killed by lightning strikes in Maple Ridge.
An intense storm rolled through Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley Thursday afternoon, causing damage by striking trees and a gas line, but in Maple Ridge three horses were killed by mother nature.
There were four horses huddling under a tree during the storm, and only one survived.
Few details are available at this time, but two of the horses belonged to one person and another was being boarded at the stables.
The owner of two of the horses confirmed the deaths to Global News, but was too distraught to appear on camera.
There have been no other reports of any fatalities.
The storm caused delays at Vancouver International Airport, power outages across the region, and some people in Port Moody have been removed from their homes after lightning struck a gas line.
