Councillors have also been told another $241 million in capital rebuilding costs will have to be approved in future years.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi says that doesn’t include any money needed to prevent future flooding.

The City of Calgary expects to ask for $147 million from the provincial government’s disaster recovery program and another $166 million from insurance.
