Vancouver company to equip ISS with cameras

When Google Street View came out, many people looked up their homes out of curiosity.

Now, thanks to a Vancouver based company, you will soon be able to see what your place looks like from the International Space Station.

In fact, you’ll be able to see any place on the planet.

Urthecast is a relatively new company that employs 50 people and is growing fast.

With offices popping up around the world, their plan is to equip the International Space Station with video cameras that will continuously broadcast ribbons of images about 50 kilometers wide as the station passes over Earth.

That camera could be hired by businesses and researchers.

Or the public could request – by way of the Internet – to have it shoot what ever they want.

The company has raised $55 million dollars so far.
