Good Samaritans help out during Toronto flood

TORONTO – After a torrential downpour knocked out power and caused floods during the Monday evening commute, stories of kindness in the face of adversity appeared on social media sites Tuesday.

On Reddit,  users took the time to thank residents who offered help in times of need.

On redditor took the time to thank a man who, “without hesitation,” offered to cover the cab fare for a young couple who couldn’t pay as the severe storm caused disruptions in electronic payment systems of Toronto taxis.  When asked how he could repay the man for his act of kindness the man responded, “when you can, pay it forward.”

Another Redditor who was stranded at Lawrence station was thankful for a driver who spent “1.5 hours” driving the stranded person home without asking for payment.

And one user tried to find the woman who offered her cardigan to a baby boy who was left scared and cold after escaping a stranded taxi.
