“I believe there’s been progress”: Regina police Chief on triple homicide

Regina police believe they have made progress in the investigation into the city’s first triple homicide, but admit there is still a ways to go before a suspect can be named.

Investigators are still looking into what happened to Gray Nay Htoo, 31, his wife Maw, Maw, 28, and their three-year-old son Seven June Htoo. The family was found dead on August 6 in their Uplands townhouse.

Police Chief Troy Hagen said at least 15 investigators are working on the case as tips continue to come in from the public. The process is slowed at times due to the need for translators. So far, over 100 interviews have been completed.

“I believe there’s been progress,” Hagen said. “We’re certainly committed to holding the person or persons accountable for this.”

Hagen also said the public has no reason to be fearful of a random act from the same suspect or suspects.

“There’s nothing specifically that we’ve discovered that would heighten the level of danger to out community,” Hagen explained.
