Saskatoon zoo prepares for busiest day of the year

SASKATOON – The busiest day of the year is coming up at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo on June 28.

Friday is Kinsmen Day, an event offering free admission from open to close.

Zoo Manager John Moran said last year around 6,000 people came through the gates.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“There will be three live presentations starting at noon, face painting in the lions pavillion and the Zoo Society will have investigation stations and animals out on site,” said Moran.

The Saskatoon Zoo Society will have activities for children to learn more about the animals at the Zoo, including the great white Beefalo.

In lieu of admission, residents are encouraged to make a donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre. Food bins will be set up at the entrance.

“We have grown from maybe three barrels of food the first year to about 15 last year,” Moran added.
