EDMONTON- Global News Edmonton has won the 2012 Bert Cannings Best Newscast Award for its coverage of the University of Alberta’s Hub Mall shootings.
The win comes as the Global News family celebrates other wins at the annual Radio and Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) National and Network Awards, including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall News Excellence in Network Television.
“We are honoured to be recognized with numerous national and network awards for the high journalistic standards of our news team and their dedication to bringing viewers the stories that matter most,” said Troy Reeb, Senior Vice President, Global News and Station Operations. “This year has been very successful for Global News and we are committed to continuing this momentum as the year progresses.”
Global Edmonton is the only station to claim the Bert Cannings Best Newscast Award three times.
