Barenaked Ladies rock live set on Global’s The Morning Show

TORONTO – No, it wasn’t a dream. Scarborough’s homegrown rock superstars, the Barenaked Ladies, played a live set outside of Global News’ The Morning Show studio Thursday morning, starting with the hit song Pinch Me.

Their set featured old favourites and new songs from their upcoming album, Grinning Streak, which is available June 4.

Asked by The Morning Show’s Liza Fromer about the band’s unique sound, co-founder Ed Robertson offered a theory.

“I think it’s a product of being four guys with very different influences and interests. Everyone kind of brings their viewpoint,” Robertson said.

When asked about their influences today, the band cited Canadian contemporaries like Metric, Feist, Broken Social Scene and Ron Sexsmith.

The Barenaked Ladies have sold over 15 million albums worldwide.

Grinning Streak will be their 11th studio album.
