TORONTO – If you believe the headlines, Canadian actor Mike Myers and his Wayne’s World co-star Dana Carvey ended their long-simmering feud to reunite in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The U.K.’s Daily Mail declared: “Party time! Mike Myers and Dana Carvey bury the hatchet at Wayne’s World 21-year reunion.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Mike Myers, Dana Carvey Set Aside ‘Wayne’s World’ Feud at Academy Screening.”

And Deadline reported: “Mike Myers & Dana Carvey Use Academy To Bury ‘Wayne’s World’ Hatchet.”

Problem is, there’s no evidence the two stars were feuding.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

In a 2007 interview with ComedyCouch.com, Carvey flat out denied it.

“Not at all! Not at all. I hope not. Not from my side,” he said.

The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday claimed: “Carvey and Myers, who originated the Wayne’s World sketch on Saturday Night Live, have never been close. Carvey is said to have been upset that Myers’ Dr. Evil character in Austin Powers bore a striking resemblance to Carvey’s impression of SNL creator Lorne Michaels.”

Not so, according to Carvey’s 2007 interview.

“It’s a natural thing for someone to do an impression of that. And what Mike did with it was brilliant, making it Dr. Evil. So no hard feelings there,” said Carvey. “I mean, Mike picking me to be part of Wayne’s World was an incredibly generous thing and that turned out to be a wonderful thing, a great thing.”

Tuesday’s reunion of the Wayne’s World cast — which also included Rob Lowe, Lara Flynn Boyle and Tia Carrere — was also not the first time Carvey and Myers have reprised their roles as Garth Algar and Wayne Campbell.

They teamed up for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards and again for a sketch on SNL in February 2011.

These details were not mentioned in Wednesday’s reporting of the reunion, although the Hollywood Reporter noted: “None of the panelists mentioned any history of animosity toward each other.”
