WATCH: It's the purr-fect scent for the cat lover in your life – Mar 23, 2017

An American perfumery is giving all you cat lovers the chance to smell just like a newborn feline with their latest scent Kitten Fur.

Earlier this month, Demeter Fragrance Library released their fur-inspired perfume in various forms including a spray, body lotion, shower gel, massage oil and a room diffuser oil. It’s a “a fragrance that truly purrs, and so will anyone who experiences it,” the company said.

The company claims they worked for 15 years to perfect the scent, which joins their line of nature-inspired smells such as Moonbeam, Earthworm and Mildew. (It would only be fair to point out the Demeter also produces arguably more olfactory-pleasing scents inspired by fruits, desserts and cocktails.)

Kitten Fur creator and Demeter CEO Mark Crames told Live Science that getting the right mix of scents was a complicated process.

“It’s just really hard to get the kind of depth, complexity and subtlety that you need,” he said, explaining that animal scents are much more difficult to recreate in comparison to plant scents.

Crames described the Kitten Fur smell as a “combination of skin and sunshine.” The company website says it has “captured the olfactory essence of the warmth and comfort of that purrfect spot, just behind a kitten’s neck.”

According to Crames, Kitten Fur was one of the most highly requested scents by customers, followed by Bacon and Puppy Breath, which are both in development.
